...…..Holloway (1999/2000) ha suggerito che invece di tagliare le attività extrascolastiche durante i periodi di bilancio difficili, i dirigenti scolastici dovrebbero sostenere finanziariamente tali attività perché è dimostrato che evitano l’abbandono scolastico e contribuiscono al successo negli studi. Questo studio su larga scala supporta le scoperte di Holloway. In Kansas, la partecipazione allo sport nelle scuole superiori non toglie assolutamente nulla al rendimento scolastico. In Kansas coloro che durante gli studi superiori erano impegnati come atleti durante l’anno scolastico 2008-2009 hanno ottenuto voti migliori alla maturità, hanno avuto una percentuale maggiore di laureati……… di fatto rispetto ai non atleti……
